Letting Care In: How Rachel Found Strength in Asking for Support

Estimated reading time: 4 minutes
At Entyre Care, we’re constantly reminded of the strength it takes not only to provide care, but to ask for support while doing it. For Rachel, a devoted mother and full-time caregiver to her 20-year-old daughter Bella, that lesson came through the courage to let others in.
“Don’t be afraid to ask for help,” Rachel shared. “Being a full-time caregiver can be stressful, but you don’t have to do it alone.”
When Rachel became the full-time caregiver to her daughter Bella, she quickly learned what many family caregivers do: it’s not that easy to ask for help.
“I’d heard about the AFC program before,” Rachel recalled, referring to Massachusetts’ Adult Foster Care support for family caregivers. “But it felt hard to navigate, and I wasn’t sure where to start—or who to trust.”
A Different Kind of Support

Things began to change when Rachel connected with Entyre Care.
“Everything was so well explained,” she said. “The team was clear, consistent, and actually helpful. I didn’t feel like a number. They really saw me as a caregiver and understood what our family needed.” That guidance made a big difference in how she viewed her role and her right to receive help.
As Rachel put it:
“Being a full-time caregiver can be stressful, but don’t be afraid to ask for help.”
Bella and Her Bigger Purpose
Bella, now 20, is a determined young woman who dreams of helping others. She’s training her own service dog, Ziti, to help with mobility tasks like opening doors and retrieving items. But her goals go even further.
“I want to create a nonprofit,” Bella said, “or be part of one that helps train service animals for people with disabilities. There’s so much potential for dogs like Ziti to make someone’s life better.”
Care Work, Recognized at Last
Behind Bella’s independence is Rachel’s tireless care. She had given up managing a business and now fully manages Bella’s schedules, appointments, medications, and provides physical and emotional support.
“Before Entyre Care, I didn’t feel like anyone really recognized that this is work too,” Rachel said. “Now, not only am I supported emotionally—I also receive compensation that helps us as a family.”
No Longer Alone
Entyre Care helped Rachel navigate the enrollment process and made sure she felt seen—not just as a mother, but as a caregiver.
“People don’t always talk about how lonely caregiving can be,” Rachel said. “But Entyre Care reminded me that we don’t have to do this alone.”
