Caregiver Questions
What questions arise in the minds of our caregivers?
It’s common to see ourselves primarily as a partner, parent, child, sibling, grandchild, or friend, simply helping out. But, did you know that according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, caregivers are defined as family members, friends, or neighbors who assist someone with a chronic illness or disabling condition?
If this resonates with your experience, then you are indeed a caregiver and fulfill the most important requirements:
- You are currently caring for a child (18+), parent, friend or family member
- Your relative has a disability, long-term illness or other health condition that requires support
- You help your relative with errands, e.g. shopping, cooking or cleaning
- You help with bathing, dressing or personal hygiene
- You often help your relative with managing medical appointments or medication
- You often help with transportation or walking
- You provide emotional support and social activities
Yes, you may be eligible for compensation if you qualify as an Adult Foster Care provider. Eligible caregivers can earn up to $1,500 per month. Your compensation will depend on your state’s program requirements and the level of care needed. Get in touch with us to learn more.
If the person under your care is enrolled in a state Medicaid program (e.g. MassHealth in MA), you may qualify for Adult Foster Care. The best way to know whether you qualify is to give us a call, or complete an initial intake form.
And if the person you care for is not enrolled in a state Medicaid program, we offer free assistance to help them gain access to it.
No problem. If the person you care for is not enrolled in a state Medicaid program, we offer free assistance to help them get Medicaid.
You must meet the following requirements:
- Be 18+ years old
- Be committed to being the primary caregiver
- Be able to provide the care required by the care recipient
- Not be a spouse or legal guardian of the care recipient
Caregivers are compensated for helping with activities for daily living (ADLs).
ADLs include:
- Feeding
- Bathing/Personal Hygiene
- Dressing
- Using the Toilet
- Ambulating
- Transportation
As an employed caregiver, you can assure yourself that your loved one is getting the best care, and that you are not sacrificing your livelihood in order to perform that function.
