It Takes a Village: How Gloria & Kelley Found the Caregiving Support They Needed

Entyre Care Gloria & Kelly’s Story

Estimated reading time: 5 minutes

Gloria has always been the heart of the family. A vibrant mother of seven, she built a life filled with love, tradition, and hard work. “I come from the North End, Italian. My grandmother owned property in Revere Beach where she cooked and sold food,” Gloria recalls. “We all ended up moving to Revere where I met my husband and had seven children. We all always took care of each other, and I’m blessed they’re all close.”

But as the years went on, life changed. Daily tasks became harder, and after the loss of her husband early on, and later her son and grandson, Gloria found herself needing more help than she ever expected.  Kelley, always close with her mother, made the decision to move her in and take on the role of full-time caregiver, all while juggling her own job and personal responsibilities.

As time went on, the weight of caregiving became overwhelming. Kelley constantly worried about her mom’s wellbeing especially when she wasn’t home. “I worked up on I-93 in property management, and I used to have to turn around on the highway, come home immediately when she needed me.” Kelley recalls. Leaving her mom alone became too risky, but finding professional help she could trust was nearly impossible.

Finding Entyre Care. A Turning Point

Everything changed when Kelley discovered Entyre Care

Through the program, she learned that caregivers like her could receive financial compensation for the care they were already providing. This not only helped ease the financial strain but also allowed her to focus more on her mom’s well-being without feeling pulled in so many directions.

But the biggest relief wasn’t just the financial support—it was the care team that came with it. Kelley and Gloria were connected with Lauren, their dedicated nurse, and Jackie, their care manager. Lauren provided medical guidance, ensuring Gloria had the proper care and monitoring, while Jackie helped navigate the caregiving process, offering emotional support and practical solutions.

For Gloria, this meant peace of mind not just for herself, but for Kelley too. I don’t have to worry about being put in a nursing home,” Gloria says. “I don’t want that burden on my kids. I don’t want them to visit me there. They’ve always known me as an active person. I don’t want them to see me that way.”

Through Entyre Care, Gloria gets to stay home, surrounded by family, just as she always wanted. “I wouldn’t live,” she adds. “I love life. I love people. And don’t take me away from people.”

The Power of a Support System

For the tight-knit Italian American family, asking for help wasn’t always easy. Kelley grew up believing that you take care of your own, but she soon realized that getting help doesn’t mean you’re not doing enough. It means making sure your loved one gets the best care possible.

Now, Kelley doesn’t feel like she’s in this alone. She has a team behind her, making sure both she and Gloria are supported every step of the way.

You Don’t Have to Do It Alone

For Gloria, Entyre Care means dignity and independence. For Kelley, it means peace of mind and support. And for both of them, it means they can focus on what matters most—spending quality time together.

If you’re caring for a loved one, help is available. Entyre Care ensures that family caregivers receive financial support, professional guidance, and community resources, so no one has to do it alone.

Because at the end of the day, caregiving isn’t meant to be a solo journey. It truly takes a village.
